The Junk Notebook
From page 72 to page 89
Page 72/100: Drawing Tools Organizer
Page 72/100 What about making a portable organizer/container for all the drawing tools? I think I can put about 100 markers/pens/pencils in it plus a couple of notebooks and a few tools like scissors, cutters and glue sticks.
Page 74/100: 5 markers
74/100: make do. Can you make something acceptable with just 5 markers? A couple of quick experiments drawing Varenna (small town on Como Lake) from memory. Color first, lines later.
Page 75/100: Pencil Jewelry
Page 75/100: in 25 days this project will be over so it's a good time to think about the next project. What about Pencil Jewelry? It has all of the right ingredients to be awesome. Ideation, creativity, new skills to learn, craftsmanship and of course eventually you get a piece of jewelry. Here are a few ideas I jotted down. Which one you would wear around your neck?
Page 76/100: Ezekiel 25:17
A portion of the famous Ezekiel 25:17 that Jules Winnfield recites in Pulp Fiction and that it doesn't actually exists.
But... have you ever thought that in real life there is someone who poses as a weak only to make some blessed other to shepherd him out of troubles? Just a late evening reflection...
Page 77/100: Bonsai
Page 77/100: Bonsai. I do love them and I feel so guilty every time I see one because of the many I have killed. I don't know why but no matter how much I care they do not survive with me 😢.
Page 78/100: Practicing watercolor first technique
Page 78/100 is not that glamorous. Just a few of the stuff I did to practice the "watercolor first" technique.
BTW, the ham shining from the to top right corner make me laugh! I was considering to cover it but eventually I thought it is a "tasty" touch of color 😂
Page 79/100: Moroccan Mehndi Motif
Moroccan Mehndi Motif. Mehndi is an art in which the body is decorated with henna paste. There are different kinds of motifs and the Moroccans are those with more geometrical forms. I made this for a friend that asked me a suggestion for a tattoo. The fun part is that he doesn't have the slightest idea of what he want to permanently put on his skin 😂, the only thing he knows is that he wants a tattoo 🤔. Anyway, I can't miss an occasion like this to draw. This is the 1st of 3, I post the other 2 the next days.
Page 80/100: Marquesan Tattoo Design
Page 80/100 is the 2nd tattoo drawing for my friend. I chose a Marquesan design because I love it and because each element of the whole figure is a symbol itself with a specific meaning. Eg. the marquesan cross you see in center of the turtle symbolizes harmony and balance, the two lizard on the sides of the shell are for protection against evil and illness. Each design tells a whole story.
Page 81/100: Hannya
Page 81/100 is the last of the 3 tattoo drawing. This is a Hannya, I'm not very fond of this subject, it is violent, it suggests rage and the story behind this mask/tattoo is a bit frightening. Anyway... it's done.
Page 82/100: Gotta Go Soon
Page 82/100 is about one of those days... In these cases you learn the hard way to be concise and on focused. If at the end of the day you can say "it was productive", you win!
Page 83/100: the Irrational door
Another story about "less traveled roads in my small town". This door drives me crazy: the road is slightly uphill and the small metallic roof was twisted and deformed by a truck (I suppose😁) so the visual points of references are different than the usual. Besides the visual "distortion" it always makes me think how easy is to change the perception of the reality if you mess up on those points we consider "of reference"
Page 84/100: Escher-ish Pattern
Page 84/100 is an Escher-ish pattern. I like to draw repetitive elements while I'm thinking. You know, that thing where prefrontal cortex is free to work while you are engaged in menial or repetitive tasks which are governed by the dorsolateral striatum and the basal ganglia. I have to google this each time to remember the names but, hey, it works and it is more than enough.
Page 85/100: ISO 40 Foot Art Container
Here is the ISO 40 foot ART container as requested by @foglia_mario1966 ! Off the grid, space for drawing inside and outside! Where do we park it Mario???
Page 86/100: New Bar in Town
Page 86/100 is about a new bar that recently opened in my small town. A nice place with a beautiful patio cover by an old wisteria. Excellent cappuccino and brioches. Perfect for spending some time to doodle.
Page 87/100: Mind Cleanser
Page 87/100 the Mind Cleanser. You know when your mind is racing and it always goes to the same image, idea, conclusion. Ok, when it happens to me I do this: I draw a simple form and I outline it with lines. I find that it is more effective than zentangle which is a mindless activity while this is a mindful activity: you need to focus and pay attention to the form.
Page 88/100: Stone Balancing Field
Page 88/100 is inspired by the recent @cnichele65 posts. I'm a big fan of stone balancing too and I love the surreal atmosphere that a place with lots of stones piles can create. Years ago I made a video with me piling up stones close the the main road for about 6 minutes. I wanted to create that surreal feeling but very soon I realized it only deserved the "most boring video" awards 😂. I think I still have it on YT or hidden in a deep folder in a one of my storages.
Page 89/100: Instant Coffee Art
Page 89/100 is an "encore". Speaking about surreal atmosphere, why not to try something unusual? Here is #instantcoffeeart .
