The Junk Notebook
From page 18 to page 35
Page 18/100: I'm Thinking
Page 18/100: three pieces of paper ripped out form larger ones. Few years ago I started to keep all of the doodle I do while I'm thinking. I now have a lot of them. Yeah, I think a lot
Page 19/100: Day Log
Page 19/100 is an attempt to keep track of my day about time spent, coffee and emails.
While I'm doing stuff I'm submerged in my activity and I don't see the "big picture". Once on paper, well, it gave me some thinking.
Page 22/100: Pre Colombian Art
Page 22/100 is about Zapotec art. I particularly love Pre Colombian art, those big details, the iconic faces. I found a picture of this urn in one of my very old school books at my Mom's home and I took the occasion to practice with watercolors.
Page 23/100: Calavera
Page 23/100 is a Calavera . Few years ago I was kind of "obsessed" with tattoos drawings and I use to draw lots of calaveras just for sake of drawing. Mmmhhh... I can make few more pages with tattoo drawings. Let me think about this.
Page 24/100: Conspiracy Theory #1
Page 24/100. Today there is a bit of #conspiracytheory 😂 . Reading about barcodes I found that when they were launched some conspiracy theorists postulated that they were a way to deeply track our lives. Well... they weren't but for sure they can be exploited to know a lot about one's life.
Page 25/100: Crypto-Anatomy
Page 25/100 is one of those with the large red blob in the middle. This time I was inspired by the magical drawings in the Gray's Anatomy of the Human Body (the book, not the series).
Page 26/100: Lontra Red Riserva
Another red blob for page 26/100. This time red wine came to my mind so here it is the Lontra Red Riserva label. Fine red wine gracefully aged over 50 years, it pairs with all dishes: meat, fish, poultry, pizza, pasta, whatever
Page 28/100: Dante Alighieri
Page 28/100 is about Dante Alighieri and the Divine Comedy. The quote above is one of my favorites: it is what Virgil says to Charon when he was disappointed to carry him and Dante. Virgil means "this is the will of who has the power, don't ask anymore", in modern terms: "just paddle and suck it up looser!".
Page 29/100: Conspiracy Theory #2
Page 29/100 : Conspiracy Theory nr 2. There is a Theory that as "we are what we eat" the discounts campaigns make us buy/eat certain kinds of food so that our behaviors modify accordingly. .
To me this sounds nuttier than the one about barcodes.
True is that there is a "grand design" behind discount campaigns.
Page 30/100: Mandala
This started with the best intentions: cutting out the paper, spray painting the page (which is one of those glossy ads pages) with watercolor, glueing the shape...
Well... eventually became a colorful crust. I must refine the technique, right? Btw, it's page 30/100.
Page 31/100: Henri Cartier-Bresson
Today's page 31/100 is a tribute to another legendary photographer: Henri Cartier-Bresson. Master of "candid photography", his pictures capture those aspects and moments of life that we "normally" miss or don't see at all.
Page 32/100: Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego
I just found Bruce Chatwin's book in a box and it inspired me this. Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego... I'm dreaming to go there since I was about 25. In my mind a trip in that area would be the ultimate adventure.
Page 33/100: Important Notice
Page 33/100 is an "Important Notice". You could say it is not necessary but for the sake of clarity and openness it is important to me to say it: this is NOT a #the100dayproject. It's about making 100 pages and posting 1 page a day for 100 days. Some days I do nothing, some days I do 3, even 4 pages. Ok, I feel better now! Thank you all for the support, it means a world!
Page 34/100: Steampunk spray bottle
I had this page with ads of detergents and a steampunk spray bottle seemed a good subject 😊. It's page 34/100.
Page 35/100: A perfect window
To go home I had to pass under this window. It was enlightened by the sunset, the layers hanged out were flying with the light wind. .
Perfect, I thought, it was perfect.
