The Junk Notebook
Everything in the notebook, page by page
The Junk Notebook
Ready to go! A notebook made of scraps! Rather than pasting scraps on good paper I'll paste good paper (and scraps too 😂) on pages made of random scraps. #reversescrapbooking is going to start!
Page 1/100: beer page
Ok, here is page 1/100 on the #reversescrapbooking project. I made this book out of random scraps I had at hand and rather than pasting scraps on good paper I'm starting from scraps to make the pages. I'll try to do it on a daily basis.
Page 2/100: urban sketching
Page 2/100 of #reversescrapbooking project. This is an easy page, just the other side of page 1 which is amazon filling paper. No good for markers but good enough for ballpoint pen. I took this picture a few days ago and I kept going back to look at it for no apparent reason so, this may be the reason: a little urban sketch.
.
Page 3/100: paper clothes
Impromptu page 3/100 of the #reversescrapbooking project.
Today it's about paper clothes. Often unobserved, they lies under our dishes or trays yet they can offer fantastic opportunities to draw and share messages. I always draw on paper clothes, very often messages to the hosts or just to say thank you for the good food and good time. A doodle on a paper cloth has to be left on the table, is like a message in a bottle. Not always, but often, when I come back to places I left a message on the table I find it hanged on the wall. Mission accomplished!
Page 4/100: tribute to Steve McCurry
Today's page 4/100 of the #reversescrapbooking project is about Steve McCurry. I went to an exhibition a couple of years ago and what impressed me were the eyes of the portrayed people. This is the first page of the series "My top 5 photographers".
Page 5/100: bell pepper
Page 5/100 of #reversescrapbooking project. Today I celebrate bell peppers. They are beautiful and of course delicious. .
Page 6/100: Grocery List
Today's page 6/100 of the #reversescrapbooking project is a grocery list. Well, it is not the nicest page ever yet is a real-life one.
Grocery lists are one of those things I try to do digitally but, eventually, I go back to paper. Some of them stay in my pocket for days, I updated them on the go when I find something is running out or I have an idea for a recipe.
Not all lists accomplish its mission at once, some of them need time and different days and stores.
At the end of the day grocery lists are humble, uncelebrated journals of our human needs.
Page 7/100: Coffee
A coffee dedicated page can't be missed in any of my notebooks. Keeping the sugar pockets (although I don't have sughino my coffee) is a nice way to keep track of how many espresso I have while I'm around.
Page 8/100: Milan
My feelings about Milan is the topic of today's #reversescrapbooking project page.
This project is interesting: sometimes I adapt to the scrap page contents, sometimes the page it's just a mere support for something else. In this case a single word caught my eyes and I worked around it.
Ok, what's next?
Page 9/100: Bird eyes view
Lecco is beautiful city on the lake and I have tons of nice pictures of it. Today I selected one and wanted to draw something like "a different view of an usual place". And this idea came to my mind: I draw the view from about fro google maps. The written note is soaked in coffee and dried in microwave oven: it works! Give it a try!
Page 10/100: Reading
Today's page 10/100 of the #reversescrapbooking project is pretty simple. I adapted to the page contents and jus added a few details. I think this is the fun part of a book made of scraps: you can use the contents as part of your work and fit in your features or you can use the whole page as a mere support for something else. Nobody cry if I waste a page or if it's not beautiful or a piece of art. I get an idea and I go for it without planning, I see how it works as I go. And I'm really enjoying this "constraintless" game!
Page 11/100: Frozen pizza is NO-NO
This page is truly a mess 😂 I don't know why I included this commercial flyers in the notebook: it's very hard to make something interesting out of them. Btw... Even if a cover up would solve the problem I wanted to use what's on the page so here is what came to my mind.
Page 12/100: Random stuff
Page 12/100 : purely random stuff. I found it, I pasted pasted it. This kind of experiment, even if they may seem overly easy or pointless, are those that eventually make me feel there is a subtle "order of things" that keeps everything together and give a purpose.
Page 13/100: Jaipur, the Pink City
Page 13/100 . I already met the left part of this picture. This time I want to make a small tribute to my dear friend @cnichele65 : the upper part is from one of the photos he shot in Jaipur. Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and the man below is an elder of a Rajasthani tribe.
Page 14/100: Trains
Page 14/100 is about trains. I like when an element on the page give me ideas for the content. Trains are those things that recall traveling, adventure and enjoyment of your time. As a teenager I use to travel a lot with trains then, I bought my first motorcycle and of course it was my "all-weather" mean of transportation.
Page 15/100: Breakfast
Page 15/100 is about the simple rite of the breakfast. Yes because breakfast is s rite for me: I need my time. I also noticed that after dealing with printed page a clean, empty one can be intimidating. I had to think more than twice to decide what to do with it. The fear to mess up chimed in again but, hey, this is about scraps, it's about being original and following the gut to see where it takes you, right?
Page 16/100: Cowboys Bar
Page 16/100 is dedicated to a bar near my home that is no logger open. The owner had a strong passion for Cowboy culture and I found this card about an event they held years ago. No word, no fancy scraps, just hat tip for you guys! Thank you for the good evening with good music, dance and beer. You are missed!
Page 17/100: Masking tape mask
I just wanted to mask this page and masking tape is one of my favorite materials. So this idea: a mask made of masking tape!!! In its simplicity I think this is one of the pages so far! Isn't it cool? BTW it's page 17/100.
