The Junk Notebook
From page 36 to page 53
Page 36/100: the Moon
Page 36/100 Few things are more evocative, inspiring and romantic than the moon. I believe the desire to draw the moon naturally comes to all of those who love to draw at least once. And here I am.
It's just me or drawing a moon is not so easy as you would think?
Page 37/100: Aces
Playing cards symbols have a long and interesting story. Sometimes I oversee the meaning of the symbols and I just see it as a coding. Here are the aces in their "original meaning" glory. This is page 37/100.
Page 40/100: Cows
Page 40/100 is a very, very important question.
Do the cows talk to each other?
I hope they have a system to chat, otherwise I can't imagine how boring can be their life. When I see them in the grass in mountain I can't refrain myself to imagine their conversation:
Guendolin: hi Ermenegilda.
Ermenegilda: hi Guendolin, today the grass is delicious.
Guendolin: yes, it is.
Ermenegilda: do you know? Today is the first day of the new milker.
Guendolin: oh, really? What appended to the old one?
Ermenegilda: he retired.
Guendolin: I see.
Ermenegilda: hope this one is more gentle. The old one sometimes hurt my udders.
Guendolin: mmmmmhhhh... I don't know, I kinda like a bit of rudeness.
Ermenegilda: you minx!
Page 41/100: Trees and Forest
Page 41/100 there are moments when not seeing the forest for the trees is actually fine.
Page 42/100: The secret is in the water
Page 42/100. When @foglia_mario1966 the Master of watercolor speaks, I listen! and practice, of course.
Page 43/100: Touch n' Feel
Hey, here is a literally crusty page! I just wanted to try something with a "touch" and that show a history. So this is an experiment but the idea is that, touching and following the path with the fingers, in time it wears and get stained and it will tell a story.
Page 44/100: the Hole
I found myself thinking "these pages are black holes". That's a good idea! So here is a squared hole in the page.
Page 46/100: Hamsa
Hamsa is also known as the Hand of Fatima is a beautiful symbol. Often used as a jewel, is a sign of protection particularly against the "evil eye". After all of this, it is beautiful to draw and play with colors on it.
Page 47/100: Tribute to Ruetz
Page 47/100 is my little tribute to #derbäckerruetz , my favorite bakery in Austria! Each time I'm in Innsbruck I always have breakfast or lunch there. Not to mention, brezel are my favorites.
Page 48/100: 3d effects
Some more practice with 3D effect. The idea was to draw colored pencils but, eventually, they are just slim cylinders 😂.
Page 49/100: Hydrangea
Page 49/100 is a "Story from my garden". When I bought my home there was a huge hydrangea in the corner of the garden. After few years I decided to give her to my sister in law who has a very big garden so I trimmed her short, digged her out and transported.
Few months later I found a few cutted branches that fell behind another plant.
They had some sprouts and, just to see what happens, I stuck 2 of them in a vase. Long story short, this year the "survivor" made 4 beautiful flowers.
Page 50/100: 45th Parallel North
Page 50/100!
To celebrate this page I made this page about the 45th Parallel North, halfway between Equator and North Pole. I live very close to this parallel and this was an inspiration for a few projects. I thought it was natural to include it in this notebook too. Swipe for the details and a bit of "making of" and the 2 layers of this page.
Page 51/100: Archangel Uriel
I almost forgot that I added a few tracing paper pages to the notebook and this is the first one of them. I decided to embrace transparency to create a stained-glass look.
Here is Archangel Uriel, patron of Art, Science and Poetry.
My GrandMa had a strong faith in Angels and a kind of "protocol" for prayers in term to ask what and to whom but I keep this story for another page 😉.
Page 52/100: Ginko
Page 52/100 is about a story of love. This is a Ginko leaf, and is older than a decade. It was green, then yellow, then brown. Today is a bit crumbled but what it represents and the emotions are intact.
Page 53/100: Stories from my Garden
Another "Story from my garden" fo page 53/100. This year the grass in my garden grows like crazy and there are little ferns everywhere. Not to mention the variety of herbs I've never seen before. I wondered why and the answer is simple and a bit sad: there is no rabbit to trim them down! Now I can see the amount of vegetables she was eating and it explains why in summer she looked like she didn't like the vegetables I gave her: she wasn't picky, she was just satiated with what she eat in the garden.
